New Media Publishing is growing Plascon magazine
New Media Publishing will be relaunching Plascon’s customer magazine in March with a doubled print order, complete redesign, new title and a reworked practical editorial strategy. The 72-page glossy magazine will be called Plascon SPACES and will be repositioned under the editorial leadership of award-winning editor Sumien Brink as a handy guide, offering everything from step-by-step projects to top-to-toe makeovers with real-life decorating and renovation features. A highlight in the new issue will be a perforated pull-out section with quick tips, environmentally friendly info and shortcuts to transform any home.
Readers will get their first look of the revamped title at Decorex Durban on 19 March 2010. The increased print run of 40 000 copies will be available three times a year in major book stores, Woolworths, 40 Builders Warehouse stores as well as other Plascon stockists. At R14,99 it’s sure to attract the attention of and add value to anyone looking to redecorate their home with Plascon paint. “Quality paint remains the quickest and most cost-effective solution for redecorating and transforming your environment,” says Anne Roselt, Colour Manager for Plascon. “With the new positioning we believe we will serve a bigger audience better, with real solutions, ideas and inspiration.”
The repositioning is being done in response to New Media Publishing’s presentations to Freeworld Coatings in November last year. “We just loved doing some new thinking on the Plascon magazine and are confident that we will be addressing big needs in the market. You don’t stop decorating because there is a downturn in the economy; you just change the way you think about it. That is exactly what we have done with the new look and repositioning and we are pleased that Plascon’s owners – Freeworld Coatings – offered us this opportunity,” says Managing Director of New Media Publishing, Bridget McCarney.
Plascon COLOUR, the predecessor to Plascon SPACES, has won several awards in the past year, including gold in the custom magazine category at the Advantage Admag Awards, while at the MPASA Pica Awards, the title was highly commended as a leisure and lifestyle customer magazine.
